How to install your Vietnam eSIM

Install the eSIM profile while you still have Wi-Fi at home — you only get one chance to scan each QR code, and doing it before you fly means you land already connected.

Before you start

  • Check your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
  • Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • Have the QR code from your email open on another screen, or printed.

iPhone (iOS 16 and later)

  1. 1Open Settings › Cellular (or Mobile Service).
  2. 2Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
  3. 3Scan the QR code from your confirmation email.
  4. 4When asked to label the line, name it "Vietnam".
  5. 5Choose your home line as the default for calls and messages.
  6. 6Turn the Vietnam line OFF for now. Switch it on after you land.

Android (Pixel, Samsung and most others)

  1. 1Open Settings › Network & internet › SIMs.
  2. 2Tap Add eSIM or the + next to SIMs.
  3. 3Choose Download a SIM instead, then scan the QR code.
  4. 4Confirm the download and name the profile "Vietnam".
  5. 5Leave the profile disabled until you arrive in Vietnam.

When you land in Vietnam

  1. 1Turn on the Vietnam eSIM line in your settings.
  2. 2Enable Data Roaming for that line — this is required and does not cost extra.
  3. 3Set the Vietnam line as your Mobile Data line.
  4. 4Wait up to two minutes for the Viettel network to register. Toggle airplane mode if it stalls.

Installing without a QR code

If you can't scan, choose "Enter details manually" on your phone and paste the activation code from your email. On iPhone the code goes in the field labelled Activation Code; leave the SM-DP+ address blank if the full LPA string is accepted.

If something goes wrong

No service after landing
Check Data Roaming is on for the Vietnam line, then toggle airplane mode on and off. If it still fails, manually select Viettel under Network Selection.
"This code is no longer valid"
The profile has already been installed on a device. If you removed it by mistake it cannot be re-scanned — contact us with your order reference.
Data is very slow
Check whether your allowance is used up, and confirm you're on the Vietnam line rather than your home roaming line.
